James Lovey

Vice President of Investments & Operations
James works at the intersection of investing, finance, and operations, helping the firm support a large portfolio of early-stage companies and facilitate co-investments in late-stage companies and portfolio breakouts. His work centers on making information easier to trust, access, and act on, particularly in environments where teams are moving quickly and decisions depend on messy, fragmented data.
At Company Ventures, James helps build the financial and operational infrastructure behind the firm’s early-stage investment platform and the firm’s residency program for founders in New York City. Beyond advice and capital, he believes the best venture firms provide real infrastructure and repeatable systems that founders can use as they move from idea to company to scale.
Before Company Ventures, James worked at the intersection of product, strategy, and design, including roles at Fahrenheit 212 and Bresslergroup. That background continues to shape how he thinks about company building: start with the user, understand the system, and build practical solutions that can scale.
James holds BSE and MSE degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of work, he plays hurling, a fast-paced Irish field sport, and likes time in the water, whether scuba diving, open-water swimming, or spending time at the Jersey Shore with his family.
